The IB years at Jyväskylä Lyseo progress as follows:
First year: Studied according to the PreDP program, with small additions to the Finnish upper secondary school curriculum. The language of instruction is English from the start. The goal is to strengthen English skills and acquire the necessary knowledge for IB studies.
Next two years: Actual IB Diploma Programme studies. Students choose six subjects, including two languages (usually mother tongue and English), mathematics, and one science.
IB students: Participate in school events and traditions like other Lyseo students, such as the Junior Prom and Penkkarit (a traditional Finnish celebration for graduating students). IB Students also have traditions of their own!
