As part of the global community

The IB Diploma is recognized by universities worldwide.
The programme is administered by The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) which is a non-profit educational foundation established in 1968. As of September 2023, there are 3,686 schools offering the DP, in 155 different countries worldwide. Jyväskylän Lyseo Upper Secondary School has offered IB Diploma Programme since 2001.
As part of the Jyväskylän Lyseo community and traditions
The IB encourages critical thinking and international mindset. This is however not an alternative but a complement to a sense of cultural identity. Lyseo's academic and cultural heritage is cherished in our IB Diploma Programme. IB classes are taught in the Jyväskylän Lyseo Upper Secondary School's fully renovated school building at Gradia's Harju campus.
IB students take part in Lyseo's events and Finnish high school traditions, such as junior prom (vanhojen tanssit) and senior's end of school –celebrations (penkkarit). Lyseo's IB community also has its own events and celebrations, an important part of the IB spirit. In their graduation ceremony, IB graduates wear Finnish student caps to signal their achievement.
